New Strategic Partnership Strengthens Maryland’s Homeland Security EnterpriseBy: Amanda Vicinanzo, Editorial Assistant Homeland Security Solutions, a global consulting firm committed to improving the homeland security enterprise, recently announced its strategic partnership with Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC) in an effort to bridge the gap between public, private and non-profit sectors in the homeland security marketplace. “Homeland Security Solutions is bridging the gap in the market space by developing critical partnerships with public and non-profit entities, such as the Chesapeake Innovation Center,” said Bradley Schreiber, president of Homeland Security Solutions and former senior advisor at the Department of Homeland Security. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, the Chesapeake Innovation Center serves as a technology business incubator by providing resources to entrepreneurs who develop innovative technologies in national security and industry. Through the partnership, Homeland Security Solutions plans to strengthen CIC’s efforts to become a national leader in the development of innovative homeland security technologies. “In short, our programs make us the first-of-its kind clearinghouse, if you will, of homeland security products and solutions that ensure the critical infrastructure, homeland security officials and federal, state and local first responders are getting the best-of-class products and solutions they need,” Schreiber said. As part of the agreement, Washington, DC-based Homeland Security Solutions will also help CIC cultivate strategic partnerships with entrepreneurs developing innovative technologies in cyber, big data, cloud, national security and other related industry sectors through CIC’s TechBridge program. The TechBridge program identifies early-stage innovative technology companies and connects them with corporate and government partners. “As the innovation center prepares to move to its new state-of-the-art headquarters adjacent to the gates of Fort Meade, Homeland Security Solution's support is vital,” said Chesapeake Innovation Center Executive Director Laura Willoughby. “Given that the area around the fort is the nation's heart of intelligence and big data analytics, and that many emerging technology companies want to establish themselves in the region, we are thrilled to work with HSS in growing these businesses, connecting them to our collaborative networks in government, industry and academia.” By facilitating partnerships between government and private industries, Homeland Security Solutions fills the void for an intermediary between the public and private sector. The partnership with Chesapeake Innovation Center will strengthen the homeland security enterprise by providing support to technology companies trying to get their products to market in the National Capital Region. “The disparate homeland security market makes it critical to build bridges between the public, private and non-profit sectors,” Schreiber said. “Our partnerships not only allow us to help technology companies directly but it also allows us to help the public and non-profit sectors charged with promoting their constituents growth and development as well.” The cornerstone of Homeland Security Solution’s mission is helping businesses get their products to market. As part of this mission, Homeland Security Solutions plans to help CIC with marketability through a modified version of its Financial and Technology Support Services and Advisory and Business Development Services. “There continues to be a substantial gap – a valley of death, if you will – for small and midsized businesses trying to breakthrough to get their technology to market,” Schreiber said. “This new alliance will help provide much-needed support to those companies, thereby enabling us to fulfill our mission of strengthening the homeland security enterprise.” |
